Windows XP: You Can Still Get It

Many computer users–due either to incompatibility fears, a desire to maintain standardized networks or just personal preferences–prefer to purchase new computer systems with Windows XP, as opposed to Windows Vista. More than a year ago, most big box retailers (Best Buy, Staples, Office Depot, Office Max, etc.) began carrying mostly systems with Windows Vista. That seemingly limited new computer shoppers to having to buy Windows Vista.

However, consumers continue to be able to purchase Windows XP. Microsoft extended the cut-off date for purchasing Windows XP through June 2008. That means customers can still purchase Windows XP systems for one more week.

In fact, demand for Windows XP is so strong that many computer manufacturers (including those Louisville Geek sells, including Dell and HP) will continue enabling customers to purchase Windows XP. These manufacturers are offering Windows XP Downgrade licenses. In these cases clients receive licenses for both operating systems (Windows Vista and Windows XP), as well as access to support for both platforms.
